How to cancel your Dropbox team subscription

Updated Oct 10, 2023

If you’re an admin and you’re currently subscribed to Dropbox Standard, Business, Advanced, or Business Plus, this article will tell you how to cancel your subscription and change to a Dropbox Basic account. If you’re a member of a Standard or Advanced team, contact your team's admin to cancel your subscription.

If you pay by manual invoice and want to cancel your Dropbox Standard, Business, Advanced, or Business Plus subscription, you’ll need to contact Dropbox Support or your account manager.

Note: Only certain types of admins can cancel a Dropbox Standard, Business, Advanced, or Business Plus subscription. If you’re currently on a trial, learn how to cancel your trial instead.

If you don’t want to cancel your Dropbox account entirely, learn how to change to a different team plan.

What to know about canceling

When you choose to cancel your subscription, the cancellation will go into effect at the end of your current billing period. You’ll still be able to use your account as normal until then. At the end of your billing period, you’re account will become a free Dropbox Basic account and you won’t be charged again.

When your account is changed to Basic, your team is placed in locked state, which allows the team to continue access to the team files, but removes most team syncing and sharing features. You can disband your team to remove all team access.

Solve issues with canceling

What to know first:

  • Deleting the Dropbox app from your computer or phone doesn’t cancel your Dropbox plan or delete your Dropbox account.
  • Letting the credit card you were using to pay for Dropbox expire doesn’t cancel your Dropbox plan or necessarily stop you from getting charged. Your bank could have automatically transferred payments to your new card. We recommend contacting your bank.

Find your Dropbox account email

If you have a Dropbox charge on your billing statement, but you don’t remember which email account you signed up with, you can look it up using this transaction ID tool.

If you’re not sure what type of account you have right now, log in to dropbox.com and go to dropbox.com/account/plan.

Contact support

Log in to your admin account and visit dropbox.com/support to find out how to contact phone support. Phone support is only available for Dropbox team account users during local business hours.
