Manage invitations for your Dropbox Business team

Dropbox Business admins can manage invitations and membership settings from the admin console.

Manage membership settings

To manage who can invite people and how people can join your team:

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
  2. Click Admin console.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click Membership.
  5. Toggle the setting you’d like to change on or off.
    • Members can invite people to the team - If this setting is on, team members will be allowed to invite people to the team. You can choose whether all members can invite people or only approved members. You can also choose whether those members can invite anyone or only people with email address on your company’s domain. Once a member invites someone, you’ll receive an email notification.
    • Coworkers can find the team - If this setting is on, users on your company’s domain will be able to discover your team and request to join from dropbox.com/team. If you check the box below this setting, users on your company’s domain can automatically join without your approval.

Manage pending invitations

Unaccepted invites to join your Dropbox Business team are called “pending invites”. While a team member is pending, you can add them to shared folders and groups.

You can resend invitations to pending members to remind them to join your team. And, you can cancel an invitation at any time as long as the person hasn’t accepted their invitation yet.

Resend an invitation to a pending member

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
  2. Click Admin console.
  3. Click Members.
  4. Click Manage in the box titled [x] members are pending.
  5. Under Invited, but haven’t joined, click Send reminder next to the user you’d like to send a reminder to.
    • Note: If it says Invalid next to a user’s name, it means that their email address may have changed since you sent the invitation. Send the invitation to their new email address instead.

The invite will be sent to that person's email address again.

Resend an invitation to all pending members

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
  2. Click Admin console.
  3. Click Insights.
  4. In the Licenses box, click Resend invites under the section titled Invites pending.
  5. In the pop-up window, enter a message, and click Send message.

Invites will be sent to all pending members’ email addresses again.

Cancel an invitation

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
  2. Click Admin console.
  3. Click Members.
  4. Click Manage in the box titled [x] members are pending.
  5. Click "..." (ellipsis) next to the invite you’d like to cancel.
  6. Click Uninvite.
If you no longer need the license that was meant for that member, you can remove it.

Notes

  • If you added files to a pending member’s account, or added the pending member to shared folders or groups, you can transfer their account to another team member before canceling their invitation.
  • If the user already had a Dropbox account, their existing account isn't affected when you cancel their invite.
  • You can't suspend or use remote wipe on a pending member’s account.
