How to invite someone to your Dropbox team account
The information in this article applies to customers on Dropbox Standard, Business, Advanced, Business Plus, and Enterprise.
Notes:
- Each person added to your team takes up one of your team's licenses. This includes pending invites and suspended members.
- If you don’t have a spare license when you invite someone to your team, you’ll be charged for one.
- This doesn’t apply to teams that pay by manual invoicing. For these teams, the account executive will need to add more licenses if none are remaining.
- Inactive licenses aren’t automatically removed. Certain types of admins can add or remove licenses in the admin console.
- You can't invite a member to your team that is already on another Dropbox team account. They can either join your team using a different email address or leave their current team.
- If an admin tries to add a team member that is already on a Dropbox team, they'll receive an error message that says "1 email was already invited by another team".
- If the member you’d like to invite used Sign in with Apple and hid their email, they'll need to update their email address before they can be added to your Dropbox team account. You can’t add someone with a @privaterelay.appleid.com email address to a Dropbox team account.
- All team admins will have access to the Dropbox Sign admin console for team members with a Dropbox Sign add-on.
Admins: Invite people to join your Dropbox team account
Admins can invite people individually with an email or in bulk with a CSV file. Follow the instructions for your preferred method below.
To invite a person individually on dropbox.com:
- Log in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
- Click Admin console in the left sidebar.
- Click Members.
- Click Invite members.
- Type the email of the person you’d like to invite.
- Click Modify access to review and select folders they’ll have access to.
- Select the box for which folder to provide edit access.
- Click Apply.
- Select the box to add any tasks, if you’d like.
- Click Invite [x] person or Invite [x] people.
To invite people in bulk:
- Log in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
- Click Admin console in the left sidebar.
- Click Members.
- Select Import CSV file from the list.
- Click Download template to fill out the CSV.
- Import your filled-out CSV.
- Click Continue.
- You’ll see a window showing you how many invites you’re sending and how many licenses you have available.
- Click Invite.
Note: Invites that haven’t been accepted yet appear in the pending members list.
To invite people in the Dropbox mobile app:
- Open the Dropbox mobile app.
- Navigate to your account settings:
- On Android, tap (horizontal lines) in the top left, then tap Settings.
- On iOS, tap (person icon) in the bottom right.
Note: If you have linked accounts, you must be in the mobile settings of the account you’d like to invite people to join. If not, switch accounts.
- Tap Invite next to Invite people to your team.
- Note: If you don’t see this, your admin may have disabled this feature for you.
- Tap Add name or email, then type the name or email of the person (or people) you’d like to invite. You can also tap the name of the person in the Suggested list.
- To remove a person from the invitee list, tap “X” next to their name.
- Tap Invite.
You’ll see an Invites sent message appear when invites have been sent to their emails.
How to invite people to your Dropbox team if you're a team member
Team members can invite people individually with their email if their admin allows it. Follow the instructions for your device below.
To invite people on dropbox.com:
- Log in to dropbox.com.
- Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the top-right corner.
- Click View team and groups.
- Click Invite members.
- If you don’t see Invite members, your admin may have disabled this feature for your team. Click Suggest members instead to send a suggestion to your team’s admin.
- Type the email of the person (or people) you’d like to invite.
- Click Invite to join.

To invite people in the Dropbox mobile app:
- Open the Dropbox mobile app.
- Navigate to your account settings:
