Invite people to your Dropbox Business team

You may be able to invite people to your Dropbox Business team depending on your role and permissions. Team admins and user management admins can invite new people to a Dropbox Business team. Team members can invite new people to a Dropbox Business team if an admin allows it.

Notes

  • Each person added to your team will need a license. When you invite someone to your team, you’ll be charged for an additional license if you don’t have any available.
  • If you invite someone with an email address that matches the corporate domain of one of the team’s admins, they’re automatically added to your team and take up a license.
  • If the person you’d like to invite is already on another Dropbox Business team, you can't invite them to your team. They can either join your team using a different email address or leave their current team.
  • If the person you’d like to invite used Sign in with Apple and chose to hide their email, they will need to update their email address before they can be added to your Dropbox Business team. You can’t add someone with a @privaterelay.appleid.com email address to a Dropbox Business team.

Admins: Invite people to your Dropbox Business team

Admins can invite people individually with email, in bulk with a team invite link, or in bulk with a CSV file. Follow the instructions for your preferred method below.

Invite people individually

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
  2. Click Admin console.
  3. Click Members.
  4. Click Invite members.
  5. Type the email of the person (or people) you’d like to invite.
  6. Click Send invites.

Invite people in bulk with a team invite link

The team invite link feature is only available to Dropbox Business teams on Standard or Advanced plans and teams on a Dropbox Business trial. To invite people with a team invite link:

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
  2. Click Admin console.
  3. Click Members.
  4. Click Invite members.
  5. Select an expiration date for the link using the dropdown menu below Get an invite link.
  6. Click Create link.
  7. Click Copy link.
  8. Share the link via email, text, Slack, or your preferred method. Anyone who receives this link will be able to join your team.

Invite people from your Google contacts

You can invite people from your Google contacts individually or in bulk. To do so:

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
  2. Click Admin console.
  3. Click Members.
  4. Click Invite members.
  5. Click Import Google contacts.
  6. Follow the prompts to grant Google the required permissions.
  7. Check the box next to the contact or contacts you’d like to invite or Select all.
    • Note: You can also use the search bar to search for the person you’d like to invite.
  8. Click Select.
  9. Click Send invites.

Admins can disconnect their Google contacts the same way they would manage any integration in the App integrations page of the admin console. Next to Google Directory, click Settings and Disconnect. This will remove Google’s permissions and disconnect all Google contacts unless permission is granted again.

  • Note: Disconnecting your Google Directory doesn’t uninvite or remove team members who were invited through your Google contacts.

Invite people in bulk with a CSV file

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com with your admin credentials.
  2. Click Admin console.
  3. Click Members.
  4. Click Invite members.
  5. Click Import CSV file.
  6. Click Download template to fill out the CSV.
  7. Import your filled out CSV.
  8. Click Continue.
  9. Click Send invites.

Team members: Invite people to your Dropbox Business team

Team members can invite people individually with email if their admin allows it. To do so:

  1. Sign in to dropbox.com.
  2. Click your avatar (profile picture or initials) in the top-right corner.
  3. Click View team and groups.
  4. Click Invite members.
    • If you don’t see Invite members, your admin may have disabled this feature for your team. Click Suggest members instead to send a suggestion to your team’s admin.
  5. Type the email of the person (or people) you’d like to invite.
  6. Click Invite to join.
